Although these lessons are based around the Absolute Beginner, you will be able to apply them to business needs for example - Letterheads, Application Forms, Excel Charts, Invoices and other Stationery.

The lessons are created with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2010 but should apply to Microsoft Office 2007 as well because many of the lessons are, or will be, general; with no particular preference to a certain version of Microsoft Office.

WHAT  IS  MICROSOFT  OFFICE?

If you have just bought Microsoft Office, or have been given it as a gift, and are wondering Exactly What Is Microsoft Office? It's a huge software package that can help you with many aspects of your home and business life - Letters (Writing and Grammar), Essays/Articles (Templates and Styles), C.Vs and Resumes, Printed Lablels, Invoices, Accounts, Slideshow Presentations, Databases, E-Mails and many other forms of General Information Organization depending on the particular version of Microsoft Office you have.

The software package, which is split up into individual programs that can also work with each other, is so huge that many people only learn about 10% of each individual program (if that!). Don't be put off or overwhelmed by this though because that 10%, even though still huge, can benefit your life greatly. And it's not all about Business. Plenty of Home creations can be built with Microsoft Office too - Shopping Lists, Household Expenses Accounts, Holiday Itineries, Record Collection Databases, Posters and Signs, Photo Albums, To-Do Lists, Invitations and much much more.

Business users, big and small, can use Microsoft Office to create Application Forms, Envelope Labels, Time Sheets, Rotas, Pay Slips, Employee Records, ID Cards, Leaflets, Invoices and Receipts, Charts, Postcards, Business Cards and much much more. On top of this, microsoft provides plenty of free-to-use templates that cover many categories/themes such as Calendars, Weight Loss, Resumes/C.Vs, Forms, Schedules, Etc.

THE  INDIVIDUAL  PROGRAMS

The individual programs included in Microsoft Office depend on which version of Microsoft Office you have. Microsoft Office Home & Student (2007 and 2010) for example comes with Word (Word Processor), Excel (Accounting), PowerPoint (Slideshows) and OneNote (Organizer/Filofax). Microsoft Office Home & Business (2010) on the other hand also comes with Outlook (E-Mail and Scheduler) whereas Microsoft Office Professional (2010) also comes with Outlook (E-Mail and Scheduler), Access (Database) and Publisher (Brochure, Newsletter, Postcard, Etc Creator).

Since the release of Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 all versions of Microsoft Office come with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote as standard.

With Microsoft Office 2010 things have become even bigger and better, but saying this; If you have Microsoft Office 2007 I would stick with it because Microsoft Office 2010 is only a minor upgrade from it - Microsoft Office 2010 is really for those who have not moved on from Microsoft Office 2003, and earlier, yet. Plus the price of Microsoft Office 2010 is still quite high at this time.

ABOUT  THE  AUTHOR  OF  THIS  WEBSITE

My name is John Cairns and I run the following FREE Computer Lessons websites - FREE Windows 7 Computer Lessons,   FREE Windows Vista Computer Lessons  and  FREE Website Creation Help.

I also run my Click Wise Computer Services business for a living, on the hardware and software installation, fix, clean-up and maintenance side of things, and have also taught Microsoft Office 2003 in the past whereby in some cases my teachings got people jobs and helped them with their ECDL (Eurppean Computer Driving License).

This may seem/read as though I am a "Professional Teacher" but I am not!  I just teach what I know, that's all. Don't worry though, with 20+ years around the computer (with a mixture of programming, repairing and teaching) I think these lessons will help you! The old adage that Years Of Experience are better than Qualifications is always true in my book. Seriously though, learn the lessons on this website and you should be capable of working in an office (once these lessons have been created of course!).
